Owen Tidbits

Getting Owen's attention these days is a laugh and a half because he always second guesses ...

Me
: Hey, Owen -
Owen: Me?!

I bite my tongue, but on the tip of it is: "Yeah, you! Do you even know another Owen, let alone live with one?!" I love that he's so genuinely surprised each time we address him!

Owen will one day win a drinking contest. The boy can drink a cup of milk in no time flat. And when he's done, he'll slam the cup down and proclaim: "I beat ya!" - even if you weren't even drinking. : ) But seriously. He's fast. And I thought Collin was quick! Those two will out drink anyone in a milk-drinking dual!

When Owen is hurt, he will cry "I want my mommy/daddy" and only half of the time actually come to us ... the other half of the time, he'll cry and pass right by us to keep playing. We're left looking after him, saying, "I'm right here. Owen?"

Owen still doesn't know how to use his bicycle brakes ... he just rides really slow.

Owen can run, pushing his little truck, faster than any kid I've ever seen. He looks like he'll fall all over himself and come up scraped, bloody, and bruised. But he never has.

Owen disregards the rain and cold. He'll play outside, in the rain, without shoes or a shirt, grinning from ear to ear. He loves it! Then we he does duck for cover, he'll look down and realize: "I'm soaking wet!"

Owen sleeps with a stuffed dog: "Doggie."

Owen can hit a golf ball or a soft ball, throw a frisbee, shoot a basketball, volley a birdie, dropkick a ball, toss a football, and kick a soccer ball -- all on target. And he loves it. And he practices - over and over and over, every day.

Owen can bust a move, knows all the words to every song on the Cars soundtrack, and spreads infectious joy with every smile.

Owen will only sleep in shorts. He does not like long sleeves.

Owen has no concept of tissues. I've given him a zillion.

Owen says of nearly everything: "That's silly!" (Sometimes it's: "That's silly?!)

Owen hates haircuts, but looks awesome with shaggy, longish hair so it's ok. He's not particularly fond of the dentist either.

Owen says "ok" and "thank you" and "thanks" often. He repeats everything.

Owen doesn't like chocolate milk. Owen will do anything for his brother (if his brother uses nice words).

Owen is loved by all, but most especially by us.
