Fall is in the air ~ leaves cover more of the ground each morning, and it's darker longer each morning and sooner each evening. On a bright and sunny day, the air is crisp and cool! We get to wrap in warm sweaters and nothing is better than a warm beverage cup on cool fingertips. I love Fall!! And we are making the most of the greatest of days! We enjoyed Sunday afternoon at Zuanich Point Park ...
Kate practiced her balance on my girlfriend Clara's kids' skateboard. She demonstrated an amazing sense of balance. It reminded me of my sister, who amazingly as a child could balance on her knees on top of the knee board, while floating in the water and waiting for the boat to "hit it." This was quite impressive for ~ as anyone who has ever knee-boarded knows ~ pulling yourself up and onto your knees while battling the wake and the pull of the ski-rope is the hardest part! She was able to skip the challenge and start where the fun began! Can't wait to see if Kate has that same talent! Our Little Monkey (look closely ~ her shoes are on the wrong feet!)
Owen has been our Caterpillar-Whisperer this season. He seems to have a sixth-sense about where they are hiding and loves to befriend each one.Marcel on the other hand is greatly taken with Katelyn. Wherever she went, he followed. He watched her closely, studying her and trying to make her laugh! He brought her "treasures" from around the park, including a large branch that he beat on the ground making music that she danced to! It was so cute! When she sat on this monument, he rushed to sit beside her, talking to her and trying to hold her hand. (how young it all begins, really!). All of his demur was fascinating to Kate ~ she played right along, innocently "driving him crazy." Ultimately he leaned in for a kiss, and she backed further and further away then leaned her forehead in for a snuggle. Good girl, Kate. He was pleased too and ~ with a big grin ~ then rushed off to pick pine cones from the brush with Collin, Owen, and MaryJane.
*Interestingly, at the same time this was all going on, MaryJane had instructed the boys that they were all to play house. Collin was the Dad, MaryJane was the Mom, and Owen was the Son. They had built their house in the forest and were preparing a meal of "ribs and corn like Grandpa Jacobs made" when MaryJane rushed over to Collin and said something to the effect of "Ok, here's what you're going to do." He immediately turned to her and said, "You don't need to tell me what to do! I'm the DAD! We should tell Owen ~ our SON!" Owen just went on gathering pine cones.
